Therapy isn't about applying a fixed formula. It's about understanding what's going on, identifying what keeps you stuck, and working together to figure out what will be the most helpful for you.
We'll start by exploring what brought you to therapy and figuring out what would be most useful to focus on. Once we identify goals to work toward, I’ll help you develop practical strategies for your specific situation.
I am grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and often explore how thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and life circumstances interact. I tend to focus on coping skills and problem-solving strategies. Depending on your needs, our work may also include mindfulness-based approaches to better manage difficult thoughts and emotions.
Therapy looks a little different for everyone, so we'll check in regularly and adjust our approach together.
____
Care begins with understanding.
Starting therapy doesn't need to feel complicated. We'll start with a short consultation, followed by an initial session where we'll take a closer look at what's going on and what you'd like to work toward.
Free 15-minute consultation
We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you're hoping to get out of it, and any questions you may have. It's also an opportunity to see if my approach and practice feel like a good fit for you.
Schedule initial session
If we decide to move forward, we'll schedule an initial 60-minute session. In the first session, we'll take time to understand your concerns, discuss relevant history and context, and begin identifying goals and a plan for treatment.
Establish a rhythm that works for you
Sessions are typically around 50 minutes. Most people start with weekly sessions, and then we can adjust based on your needs. Some concerns may be addressed in a relatively short course of therapy, while others benefit from working together over a longer period.
