Hi, I’m a clinical psychologist who works with adults navigating anxiety, stress, mood changes, health concerns, and difficult life transitions. Many of the people I work with are used to managing things themselves but have been noticing that the ways they always coped are just not working as well as before.
My goal is to provide you with a space where you can feel heard and understood while also working toward meaningful change. We’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing, identify where you may be feeling stuck, and develop practical strategies that help you get just a little closer to the life you want. I am grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy and also draw from mindfulness-based approaches depending on your needs. Read more about my approach to therapy.
My background in health psychology informs how I approach care, and I often think about ways we can support both mental and physical health by changing the ways we relate with our thoughts or behaviors. I have worked with many people affected by chronic health conditions, across different settings including integrated primary care, behavioral medicine, neurology, medical consultation-liaison, and the VA healthcare system. I also have specialized clinical and research experience in Parkinson's disease. View my publications.
Reach out for a consultation whenever you feel ready — I look forward to hearing from you.

Information about referrals, clinical fit, and care coordination
I provide evidence-based telehealth therapy for adults in New York and New Jersey. I welcome referrals for anxiety, depression, stress, grief, adjustment, sleep difficulties, behavior change, and coping with chronic illness.
This practice may be especially well suited for adults navigating health changes, life transitions, or increasing difficulties with stress and mood.
My approach is grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), with an emphasis on practical coping skills, problem-solving strategies, and helping patients develop a clearer understanding of patterns that may keep them stuck. When appropriate, I also incorporate mindfulness- and acceptance-based approaches, drawing strategies from MBCT, ACT, and DBT.
I have particular clinical and research experience working with chronic illness, including Parkinson’s disease.
I currently accept Aetna and private pay at $225 per session. With a patient's permission, I am happy to coordinate with referring providers to help support their care.
If you’re considering a referral and would like to discuss whether my practice may be a good fit, please feel free to reach me at referrals@christopherliongphd.com.
